Models Own - Blue Glint

Hello!!
How are you all? I'm good, been trying to work out what to get for my brother for his 21st birthday, so difficult!!

Last week, Wednesday to be exact, Models Own released their brand new nail polish line called 'HyperGel' and the idea behind this is that it looks like a Gel without having to use the UV curing light. At first, I completely dismissed these polishes, it's not that I don't like them, it's just that when it comes to creme type polishes, it has to be something VERY special to catch my eye.

So on Wednesday, I popped down to my town centre just to have a browse and I went into Boots. I saw that they had a 3 for 2 on and had a look at what each stand had to offer. I got to Models Own and there were all 10 HyperGels and had a little look at them all. I love looking at all the pretty colours together, it just makes me happy lol. And that's how I noticed this colour. I don't know what it was but I just really liked the colour on the stand. Then it somehow ended up in my hand with another 2 items, then my card fell into the chip and pin machine and then the paint has somehow ended up on my nails! :P

'Blue Glint' is very pretty, great for the spring if you're not into pastels. As you can see I have added a couple of black triangle gems(?) as this is (kindof) inspired by Katy Perry's nails in her new video for 'Dark Horse'.

As you can see, she has a very similar colour to 'Blue Glint' (Which I couldn't believe when I watched this on Thursday, I was like OMG How did I know?!?! Lol) which then has a black outline around the nail. I call it like a 'Cartoon' type of effect.
As effective and eye catching as this nail look is, I didn't want to do the same as I know for sure the black would have settled into my cuticules and skin and that would have taken a lot of hard work and effort to remove, and when I almost always leave taking my nail polish off right to the last minute, I felt my nails would have looked horrible when going to work the next morning.
I remembered that I have many nail art wheels full of different shapes, sizes and colours of little gems. That's where the black triangles come in!

It turned out a little different to what I had planned in my head but I still like it and I cannot believe I am not wearing any glitter!!! Haha.

Anyway, the application of this polish, for me, was a little tricky. As I was painting the first coat, I had the amount of polish that I wanted on my brush, started applying and then a huge blob of nail polish would drip onto my nail from the stem of the brush.
This happened almost every time, even though I thought I had wiped off all the excess into the bottle.
So, each coat went on a little thick which made drying time a little longer than normal, and as I had a lot of polish on my first coat, a couple of areas became patchy where I was trying to smooth everything out quickly and there was a little streaking.
Both of the photos are with 2 coats and are without topcoat, so you can see the 'Gel' finish! (Except ring finger, I did use a topcoat to help stick on my gems!)

Overall, I am very happy with the colour and I am very impressed with the shine of this polish. I think it lives up to it's 'Gel' name very well. I think I will have better luck next time with applying as I now know what to expect!
Thank you for reading and have a great week!
Kerry x
